(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - “We believe the brave government and nation of Syria have the high capacity to move forward with the process of reforms without any foreign intervention,” Larijani said in a meeting with his Turkish counterpart Cemil Cicek on Thursday.
Larijani added that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always supported the trend of reforms in Syria.
The Iranian lawmaker urged regional Muslim states not to be deceived by superpowers and allies of Israel who claim to be advocating democracy in the region.
Syria has been experiencing unrest since mid-March.
While the West and the Syrian opposition accuse the government of the killings, Damascus blames “outlaws, saboteurs and armed terrorist groups" for the unrest, insisting it is being orchestrated from abroad.
Arab League observers are currently in the country to investigate Syria's months-long unrest and to monitor the implementation of a peace initiative presented by the bloc to put an end to Damascus's crisis.
